Lifestyle recommendations to lower your risk of cancer
For what it’s worth, here is a summary of an updated report issued jointly by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) and the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR), titled Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective
- Be as lean as possible within the normal range of body weight.
- Be physically active.
- Avoid sugary drinks and limit consumption of energy-dense foods.
- Eat mostly foods of plant origin.
- Limit red meat and avoid processed meat.
- Limit alcohol drinks.
- Limit consumption of salt.
- Aim to meet nutritional needs through diet alone.
- Exclusively breastfeed infacts (no other liquids) for up to six months.
- Cancer survivors should follow the recommendation for cancer prevention.
Being overweight or obese was found to impose a much higher risk of cancer compared to lean individuals.
I offer #11: Pick your parents wisely – family history is a big factor.

I think you could safely apply this list to the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, any inflammatory condition, any hormonal condition, etc…

I agree – it’s certainly not an original list of recommendations. There’s obviously considerable overlap among all those conditions.
